Birth anniversary of Naoriya Phullo observed

Imphal, August 25 2024: Meetei Marup, Meetei Leipak (Manipur) observed the 136th birth anniversary of Laininghal Naoriya Phullo (Phundrei) at Meetei Shan-glen, Wangkhei Thambalkhong, Imphal East district on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Meetei Marup secretary general Angomcha Seram Gojen-dro recalled the contributions made by Naoriya Phullo in the revival of indigenous Meetei religion and script along with noting that Naoriya Phullo is regarded as the pioneer of the revivalist movement of indigenous Meetei religion.

On the other hand, Apokpa Marup also observed the day at Yourabung, Imphal East with its president Thokchom Kuber hoisting the organisation's flag.

On the occasion, Halley English School, Soibam Leikai student Sapana Sharma delivered a speech on the life story of Naoriya Phullo.

Apokpa Marup singers Ch Khuman-leima and Phijam Sanatombi along with their team presented religious hymns of Apokpa Mingkheirol.
