Brown sugar, war like stores recovered

Imphal, December 22 2021:
Troops of Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) seized 447 gram suspected brown sugar worth Rs 89.40 lakh in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), troops of Assam Rifles recovered the suspected brown sugar concealed in pillows from an EECO van during routine checking at Khudengthabi Permanent Vehicle Check Post.
The recovered items along with driver and the vehicle have been handed over to Moreh Police Station for further legal action, it added.
On the other-hand, Moreh Battalion of IGAR (South) recovered huge quantity of war like stores near Chikkim Veng village in Moreh on Tuesday.
The PRO IGAR (S) informed in another release that troops of Assam Rifles observed suspicious packets in a vehicle with markings in Chinese language during border domination patrol.
On further enquiry, the driver of the vehicle revealed that the consignment was collected from River View hotel, Moreh for transportation to Churachandpur.
Troops of Assam Rifles immediately raided the hotel and recovered huge quantities of war like stores such as pica tinny rails, mounting platform for firearms accessories, military attire and accessories and one high pressure pneumatic pump.
The recovered items have been handed over to Moreh Police Station for further legal action, it added.
