Governor gives patient hearing to Lilong folks

Imphal, July 21 2022:
Governor La Ganesan today interacted with District Level Officers (DLOs), representatives of civil society organisations and student leaders in-his visit to Lilong sub-division in Thoubal district.
The Governor was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the venue in Lilong Bazar by Ahanthem Subhash Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal and other officers of District Administration.
In the interaction programme, the Governor listened to the grievances and issues faced by the people in the sub-division and assured them of all possible help.
Speaking at the gathering, he said that the Government is always ready to serve the people and therefore different schemes have been introduced and implemented at the Central and State level.
Stating that many people have benefited under the schemes, the Governor added that larger issues like improvement of health facilities, providing safe drinking water to every household, improvement of education sector and connectivity etc will be addressed in a time bound manner.
He continued that the Government is planning to address these issues and works in this regard have already commenced.
Almost all roads will be repaired within nine months and latest by a year in the State.
Under Jal Jivan Mission, works have been started to augment existing infrastructures of water supply and safe drinking water will be provided to every household, he added.
Touching upon the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor stated that the number of cases have increased during the last month, but still remains well under control.
In this regard, he appealed to people to get vaccinated and to remain alert.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of youths taking to drug abuse and trafficking in the State, he urged everyone to cooperate with the Government to stop drug culture.
He termed the issue a huge challenge in the development process of the Nation.
On attaining 75th year of Independence and as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Governor exhorted people to celebrate Independence Day with joy and hoist the National flag in every house in the State.
He appealed to all sections of society to cooperate with the Government in development works.
Welcoming the Governor, Alhaj Md Abdul Nasir, MLA, Lilong A/C stated that upgradation of health care facilities is the priority and added that he will apprise the Government in this regard.
He also announced that a drug de-addiction centre will shortly be opened in Lilong.
Further, Bobby Waikhom, Secretary to Governor, spoke on early detection and treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) to achieve India's goal of TB eradication by 2025 .
Earlier, representatives of civil society organizations and student leaders submitted memoranda raising issues and grievances and urged the Governor to take appropriate steps at the earliest.
