Mother Teresa Memorial award presented

The 2nd Kangpokpi Mother Teresa Memorial award was presented to Chinkhokim Khongsai of Vengthah Ward No 3, Kangpokpi, in recognition of her selfless service to the underprivileged, on Thursday.
The award was given in honour of late Nengphakim, also known as Nengcha Chongloi (88), whose life closely mirrored the values of the revered Mother Teresa.
The award included a citation and cash prize.
Nengcha Chongloi, born on November 7, 1935, to Letkhopao and Lhingjating Chongloi, devoted her life in serving the needy, especially children.
During the hardships of World War II, she cared for her disabled younger brother, a commitment that shaped her lifelong mission of charity.
Choosing to remain unmarried, she dedicated herself fully to helping others.
Though she had no biological children, her love and care earned her countless sons, daughters, and grandchildren.
In recognition of her selfless service, she was honoured with the Mother Teresa Award by the Kangpokpi Christian Church and earned the title 'Mother Teresa of Kangpokpi' .
The event also included financial assistance for senior women citizens and former colleagues of Nengcha Chongloi as a mark of respect.
