Lectures on rain water harvesting, HIV/AIDS conducted

Khoupum Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) conducted a lecture on rain water harvesting at Don Bosco School, Khongbung village in Noney district on Thursday to generate awareness on existing water scarcity in the environment, various aspects of rain water harvesting and ways and means to enhance the ground water level.
The students and teachers were also briefed on means to save water and judicious use of water for non-essential works like washing and cleaning, etc., informed PRO IGAR (S), while conveying that students and teachers of the School along with the village Committee applauded the efforts of Assam Rifles in educating them on social issues that immensely affects the well-being of future generations.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) conducted a lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness for the youth and locals of Aina village in Churachandpur district on Thursday.
The lecture was focused on causes, symptoms, treatments available and the misconceptions related to AIDS.
Posters, pamphlets and handouts were also distributed during the awareness programme, added the PRO.
