Body urges for fair election

Imphal, January 18 2022: In view of the upcoming state assembly election, Campaign for Clean Election (CCE) made a general appeal to the Election Commission of India (ECI), all political parties, media houses and people of the state as a whole to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election.

A statement by CCE convenor Dr Poujenlung Gonmei and general secretary Philip Maringmei sought contribution of all concerned towards realisation for the dream's for clean and good governance in the state and urged all political parties to field only candidates who are untainted as per the directive of Supreme Court and ECI.

The release also expressed that political sovereignty lies with the people and therefore all eligible voters should cast their votes prudently to root out corruption, criminality and chaos in the state.

It also urged for the formation of stable and inclusive government that can address the aspirations of the general population for growth, development and justice.
