Police training on human trafficking held

Imphal, June 13 2022:
FXB India Suraksha in collaboration with Imphal West Police and District Child Protection Unit organised a daylong training programme on 'human trafficking and child protection' on Mon day at Imphal West police recreation hall.
In a release, FXB India Suraksha informed that the training programme included discussion on the existing laws related to child protection and human trafficking.
The programme was attended by Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta Singh and additional SP Luxmi Thingbaijam as the presidium members, while Imphal East District Legal Services Authority secretary Md Arshad Saeed Shah, District Child Protection Unit, Imphal West Yurembam Indramani, Manipur High Court advocate and former Child Welfare Committee, Imphal West chairperson Thiyam Rajkishore Singh and FXBIS programme officer Sunil Khoinaijam Meitei were present as resource persons.
In his address, SP Shivakanta said that human trafficking is the third most lucrative business run illegally across the world.
"Manipur has also emerged as not only a source state but also a transit location used mostly to traffic victims to other countries using the Myanmar border, " he stated.
In all, 40 police officers attended the programme, the release added.
