44 AR inaugurates Shaurya Path

44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) on Thursday conducted renaming ceremony of its post from Akhui to Kahulong COB the in presence of locals.
According to an AR statement, a road connecting the security post to NH-137 christened as Shaurya Path was also inaugurated by commandant of the battalion.
The newly constructed and repaired path is named as 'Shaurya Path' in honour of the valour and bravery of its soldiers.
As part of the event, a tree plantation drive was also carried along the 'Shaurya Path' by locals and soldiers.
The road was repaired in collaboration with Shivalaya Construction Company as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and it shall ease access to medical and other facilities available at the COB for the locals, the statement said.
To increase bonhomie among the Rongmei villagers as well as to sensitise the security consciousness in the area, a 'Jansuraksha' meeting with locals was also conducted by the battalion.
During the meeting, the commandant and the Kahulong post company commander highlighted the present security scenario and coordination aspects with security forces and locals along with methods of exchange of information regarding activities of anti-social elements.
Various issues related to security, education, job opportunities, health, social awareness and government schemes were discussed with the villagers.
