College students decry transfer of teachers

Kakching, August 06 2024: Students of Kakching Khunou College, Umathel on Monday staged protest in front of the administrative block of the college against the transfer of two teachers amid shortage of teachers.

During the protest, the students held placards and shouted slogans against the transfer order, calling for re-appointment of the teachers and addressing the shortage of teachers in the college.

Speaking on the sidelines, one Mayanglambam Bishan said that amid requests to authority concerned to post teachers to the college, two Economics and Zoology subject teachers were transferred, which has left the students dissatisfied.

Instead of developing the college, which has the highest number of students enrolled in southern part of Manipur, the government is trying to weaken the college.

As such, he urged for reappointment of the two teachers at the earliest and also fill up the shortage of teachers in the college, while cautioning of intense agitations in case of failing to do so.
