Van Mahotshav celebrated in Chandel

Kakching, July 01 2022: Chandel Forest Division organised the 73rd Van Mahotsav, 2022 at Mantripantha village ground, Modi village, Chandel and Chakpi Molbem village, Chakpikarong on Friday.

The celebration at Mantripantha village was held with Chandel MLA Ss Olish as chief guest and Divisional Forest Officer Chandel Kanthale Vijay Sahebrao as president while Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) Soreiphy Vashum, Chandel deputy commissioner M Rajkumar and SP Chandel Hemant Pandey were guests of honour.

The celebration was also attended by Chandel Forest Division staffers, locals, members of Royal Riders Chandel and United College, Lambung Chandel NCC unit among others.

Speaking at the event, MLA Olish expressed that a person who does not plant a tree in his/her lifetime is like a dead person.

Pointing out that Chandel district has been blessed with abundant trees, she contended that continuous felling of trees instead of planting has cause several natural disasters.

She urged the people for taking up afforestation activities.

Tree saplings were planted to mark the celebration.
