ST demand: Human chain formed in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, February 01 2023: Continuing its demonstration in pursuance of the demand for sending recommendation to the Union government by the state government for inclusion of the Meetei/Meetei community in the ST list, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) along with local clubs and Meira Paibi groups formed human chain at Moirang Lamkhai and Kumbi Bazar on Wednesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the demonstration, MAMPIL president K Padamabati Devi pointed-out that the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list is for safeguard of the future generation and further urged the government to send the requisite recommendation to the centre at the earliest.

She continued that inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list will not affect other communities.

The protestors shouted slogans like 'Include Meetei/Meitei in ST list', 'Send requisite recommendation to central government' and 'Save land of Meeteis' among others.
