Sangaikot committee justifies removal of ITBP bunkers

CCpur, July 23 2024: Sangaikot Sub-division Defence Committee said that womenfolk of Sangaikot sub-division, Churachandpur district were compelled to dismantle bunkers of 49 ITBP for destabilizing hard earned peace and security maintained in Makhao area and repeated dilution of the sanctity of buffer zone.

The committee also said that 49 ITBP personnel were driven out from Cananphai/Leisan hill top till their proper location at Tangjeng across river bank.

It alleged that 49 ITBP failed to maintain the internal security coordination set up with its counterparts such as 31 ITBP and 36 AR in terms of ensuring peace and security in the area.

49 ITBP continued to forcibly occupy of some bunkers on the hill top of Cananphai and Leisan villages and did not listen to local village chiefs' request to vacate the said bunkers, the committee said justifying removal of bunkers and driving out 49 ITBP personnel from the area.
