Chandel body urges CM for DFO post to native

Imphal, August 21 2021: Unique Business Association Chandel (UBAC) on behalf of the public of the district urged CM to depute/appoint a local as the District Forest Officer (DFO) so as to bring prosperity and development in the district.

According to UBAC president SK Angdon and general secretary A Nungchim, a memorandum was submitted to chief minister through the Chandel DC requesting to post a local as the DFO stressing that most of the people of Chandel are engaged in forest related activities for their livelihood and they are illiterate and stricken with poverty.

As such they need an officer who understands their basic needs and is most likely to be aware of their problems, the UBAC functionaries said.

They also opined that when outsiders are posted as officers in Chandel, there might be linguistic problems and miscommunications between the public and the officers, which will only create more problems for the public.
