Forest Dept, BSF conduct plantation drive

Imphal, July 20 2024:
Forest Department in collaboration with Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a plantation drive at the BSF Headquarters in Mantripukhri on Saturday.
The event was attended by Forest Department divisional forest officer (DFO) Ganesh Nagarajan, BSF deputy inspector general (DIG) J K Birdi and commandant Dalbir Singh Ahlawat, along with their respective teams.
In his address, DIG J K Birdi emphasised the significance of forest conservation, highlighting the role of tree plantations in enhancing the environment and contributing to regional security.
On the other hand, DFO Ganesh Nagaraj underscored the role of trees in carbon sequestration and emphasised the need for strengthening the ongoing cooperation between Forest Department and BSF to protect and nurture natural resources.
A total of 202 individuals participated, including officers and staff from both organisations, in the plantation drive.
