Imphal, April 20 2022: The 17th annual art exhibition 2022, which is being organised by Imphal Art College commenced from Wednesday at its Chingmeirong Kabo Leikai campus.

The opening ceremony of the six-day event was attended by art and culture commissioner M Joy, Imphal Art College chairman Y Ibochouba and art & culture director L Kishworjit as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, M Joy explained how different art forms like short story, painting, films and dramas including Shumang Leela reflect the society and maintained that lack of tragedy in such art forms is a positive sign of improvement in the society.

Though several paintings are being displayed at the exhibition, there is no painting that shows tragic incidents, killing, and crimes against women and children.

It shows how the younger generation of artists are having positive thinking and moving towards positivity, he added.

He also termed the exhibition as a platform for artists to showcase their talents and get encouragement.

Prizes for 2021-22 session were also distributed on the occasion.
