Sekmai ex-MLA launches poll campaign

Imphal, December 19 2021: Former Sekmai MLA Ningthpujam Biren, who is gearing up to contest the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, launched his election campaign on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, ex-MLA N Biren opined that the state government and its police department are ignoring rampant cultivation of poppy in the hill areas.

While urging the government to take immediate steps to stop the illegal poppy/plantations, he also revealed that hill areas in Kangpokpi district near Phayeng are witnessing large scale poppy plantation after destroying the natural forests while the government is doing nothing about it.

Ningthoujam Biren further said that he is contesting the election considering the present MLA has not done any work for the welfare of the AC or for its development.

He appealed to the people of the AC to support him in the election.
