Bishnupur women force army vehicle to go back

Bishnupur, August 18 2023: A large crowd of women on Friday intercepted an army convoy of 24 vehicles including a Gypsy, assigned to transport food items for JK Rifles from Tiddim road towards Kangvai, at the Forest Gate of Bishnupur around 1 pm Friday and forced the convoy to return.

On receiving news of the incident, SP Bishnupur Roni Mayengbam, Addl SP (L&O) Satyam Takhellambam, SDPO Bishnupur Digbijoy and OC Bishnupur K Dinesh arrived at the spot and talked with the women.

However, the women refused to allow any army vehicle to pass through Bishnupur Forest gate.

As such, after trying to negotiate for around 40 minutes, the convoy had to turn and go back.
