Members and office bearers of All Kakching Clubs' Coordinating Committee, a conglomerate of 19 clubs and organisation of Kakching, inspected the Kakching Community Health Centre, on Monday.
The inspection team which included committee president Kshetrimayum Dharmadas, secretary Mayanglambam Maniyaima and other members also had Kakching CHC Rogi Kalyan Samiti/Hospital Management Society president Nongmaithem Nimai, CMO Dr Thaodem Rajen, and CHC MO in-charge Dr Takhellambam Jhulon.
They inspected the health centre and discussed issues besetting it.
During the inspection visit, Kshetrimayum Dharmadas stated that despite the state cabinet's decision in 2016 to upgrade the CHC to a district hospital, it remains classified as a CHC.
He highlighted that the centre lacks basic facilities of a CHC, including shortage of doctors, nurses and staff, as well as inadequate infrastructure, ambulances and other necessary resources.
He also mentioned that a report detailing staff and infrastructure shortages would be submitted to the chief minister, health minister and the relevant MLA, urging them to address these issues promptly.
