Club clarifies on Islamabad village in Jiri

Reacting to the statement of chief minister N Biren over the name of Islamabad village in Jiribam district, Rainbow Club, Islamabad has clarified that the village was named in 1908 .
Addressing a press meet in the presence of club members, Meira Paibi and elected PRI members on Monday, Rainbow Club secretary Fakaruddin said that they welcome the statement of chief minister Biren, who made strong objection against arbitrary renaming of villages.
Unfortunately, the CM made a remark regarding Islamabad village in Jiribam while depicting it as a recent name, he said.
He further said that former Raj Durbar president Raja Dumbra Singh and some political leaders during their visit in the village on March 13, 1908 appointed Abdul Jabbar as the first Moujadar Meetei Pangal and granted approval for settlement while naming the locality as Islamabad.
Taking serious note Of the remark made by the CM, he sought an opportunity to discuss the matter further to clear any misunderstandings.
