One day workshop on RTI held at Kakching

Kakching, March 13 2025:
A one-day workshop on "Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of Right to Information Act" was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kakching.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the State Academy of Training (SAT) and the District Administration Kakching, sponsored by the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India.
N Brajakanta, Assistant Professor of Law Department, Dhanamanjuri University and Narengbam Priyobrata, Superintendent of State Academy of Training were the resource persons at the workshop.
N Brajakanta spoke on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 stating that the basic objective of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government.
He also underlined the Act's role in preventing corruption and building an efficient system for accessing information.
He further stated that public authorities are required to provide the requested information within 30 days, while requests concerning life and liberty must be addressed within 48 hours.
Matters concerning national security, personal privacy or sensitive information are exempted Irom the purview of the RTI Act, he added.
Additional District Magistrate, M Kapajit Singh and SDO Kakching Kherdananda Potsangbam were the dignitaries.
Around 40 officials from various departments in the district participated in the workshop.
