Sit-in demands distribution of NFSA rice

Thoubal, November 12 2024: The Tentha Apunba Lup staged a sit-in protest at the Tentha Khongbal Multiplex Hall on Tuesday, demanding distribution of rice allocated under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), which has been pending for the last eight months without any explanation.

During the protest, participants held placards for regular provision of NFSA Rice.

Speaking to reporters, Lup president M Sanatombi and All Tentha Coordinating Committee vice chairman T Rishikanta highlighted that since December 2013, only four months' NFSA rice have been distributed, leaving an eightmonth backlog.

They urged the government to take immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure that the pending rice is allotted to the public.
