Wreath laying ceremony organised

Joupi Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony on Tuesday for (Late) subedar Baldev Kumar Sharma of 29 Assam Rifles who attained martyrdom during a brutal attack on the Commandant Quick Response Team on May 22 in 2016 near Hengshi village.
According to PRO IGAR (S), (Late) subedar Baldev was the Commandant Quick Response Team (QRT) JCO of 29 Assam Rifles.
On May 22 in 2016, while the QRT was moving along with the commandant from Henkot Company Operating Base to Battalion Headquarters at Joupi, the convoy was ambushed near Hengshi village.
The valiant JCO along with his QRT sprang into action arid retaliated.
However, the spray of bullets by the insurgents hit the subedar and the brave soldier succumbed to his wounds.
During the wreath laying ceremony, 30 Assam Rifles commandant also offered his respects and interacted with the veer nari and the family.
He also offered his condolences for the brave martyr.
Hengshi village chief Letsai Haokip along with his wife also offered their respects and prayers on the occasion.
They showed their respects by offering a shawl to the veer nari during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Hengshi village chief recollected the inci dent and expressed the brave action of (Late) subedar and said that the entire village expressed their condolences and remembers the valiant action of the JCO.
Veer nari of (Late) subedar Baldev, Aruna Devi along with her son Vivek Sharma and daughter-in-law Rima Sharma also offered their respects on the occasion.
