AR pays tribute to brave-hearts

Under the auspices of IGAR (South), Assam Rifles conducted a wreath laying ceremony to honour rifleman Dhani Chand, who made the ultimate sacrifice on February 7, 1993, during a firefight with undergrounds (UGs) in Zunheboto, Nagaland.
Sustaining gunshot wounds, he bravely fought but succumbed to his injuries, epitomising the supreme sacrifice for the nation, a press release issued by the IGAR (S) said on Thursday.
The ceremony was attended by four officers, 12 JCOs, and 78 other ranks, reflecting the battalion's solemn respect for rifleman Dhani Chand.
Assam Rifles, alongside the Battalion, paid tribute by laying wreaths and offering a guard of honour.
Similarly on Thursday, Assam Rifles conducted a solemn "Wreath Laying Ceremony" at Kangvai, Churachandpur district to pay homage to the rifleman Anupam Bera of the Battalion.
Rifleman Anupam Bera made the ultimate sacrifice during a counter insurgency operation on February 7, 2007, at Thinghat, Manipur.
Displaying extraordinary bravery, he courageously confronted insurgents, disregarding his personal safety, and succumbed to gunshot wounds, laying down his life for the nation.
The event witnessed the attendance of all ranks of the battalion, who paid heartfelt tribute to Anupam Bera.
The Battalion also observed two minutes of silence and offered prayers for the departed soul.
Additionally, the unit personnel contacted the next of kin of the brave heart on the day of his sacrifice, ensuring continued support and remembrance, the release further informed.
