Newly-wed found dead in relief camp

Imphal, January 07 2025: A woman, who got married four-five months back, was found dead hanging at the relief camp set up at Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sukham Chanu Devi (20), wife of Sukham James of Singhat in Churachandpur district but presently taking shelter in the relief camp opened at the Secondary School.

According to police, Chanu was found hanging near her bed around 4.15 pm.

She was one of the four members of the family taking shelter in the relief camp.

She took her life when her husband was out for work.

After conducting an inquest, her body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for post-mortem examination.

Nambol police also registered a case in this regard.
