Bomb scare at Khuman Lampak stadium

Imphal, September 05 2022: After receiving report that a bomb had been planted at Khuman Lampak main stadium, where a Group C match of the on-going Durand Cup tournament was scheduled, teams of Manipur police and other security forces conducted a massive search operation at the stadium from 10 am on Monday.

According to a police report, there were suspicions of a possible bomb being planted at the stadium at around 10 am on Monday, which prompted the Security forces to close the main gate of the stadium.

The security forces consisting of Imphal West District Police, Bomb Disposal Squad and Assam Rifles conducted a thorough search of the stadium and other suspicious places with use of metal detectors and sniffer dogs for over two hours.

However, no suspicious items were de-tected/recovered during the operation.

After the operation was concluded, spectators who came to see the match between NEROCA and Chennaiyin Football Club at 6 pm were allowed to enter the venue under strict security measures.
