Fire Service Dept cautions public

In view of the onset of dry and windy season during which fire accidents are common, Manipur Fire Service Department has issued directives to help prevent outbreak of inferno.
In a release, Manipur Fire Service director L Nabachandra urged the public to take extra precautions with combustible items.
He advised keeping matches and lighters away from children, avoiding placement of oil lamps or candles near beds, hangers, or curtains, and ensuring cigarettes are fully extinguished before disposal.
He also recommended always making water available, never lighting fires without supervision, and refraining from storing excessive quantity of petrol or kerosene.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of keeping cooking gas cylinders upright, placing gas stove and cylinder regulators in elevated positions, and remembering to put out fires when heading to picnics in the hills or other areas.
Nabachandra further emphasised the need to avoid overloading electrical appliances, always turning off lights when leaving home, and immediately contacting the fire service in case of a fire emergency.
