Kangpokpi, February 03 2022: Former minister Haokholet Kipgen, who is also the chief of Hengbung village, on Thursday filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022, becoming the first to formally enter the fray in the district.

He will be contesting the election from 51-3aitu Assembly Constituency.

The former BJP national vice-president has 10 proposers.

The third senior-most BJP member in the hill districts of the state, Haokholet Kipgen had said that he was 99.9 per cent confidence of getting BJP ticket but it was denied and allotted to his biggest rival and veteran Congressman and sitting MLA Ngamthang Haokip.
