Weaving tools distributed to displaced women

On occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Indian Army under of Spear Corps in collaboration with local handloom and handicraft start-up project, "Women for Women", distributed 10 weaving tools (hand loins) to empower the internally displaced women of S Kawtlian village in Churachandpur district.
The event featured distribution of essential weaving tools and yarn by J Mawi, allowing the participants to start their journey in handloom production in the violence affected areas of the district.
By providing training and resources, Indian Army aims to foster creativity and craftsmanship among these women, offering them a pathway to financial independence.
Additionally, the Army not only continued to honour the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings on self-reliance, but also provided a meaningful avenue for the women to reclaim their identities and build a sustainable livelihood.
About 136 IDPs of 28 families are presently staying at S Kawtlian relief centres, after they were displaced from Salam Patong village.
