Crop insurance week commences

Imphal, July 01 2022: The 3rd state level crop insurance week observance commenced from Friday along with flagging off an Information Education Communication (IEC) van by Agriculture department commissioner Mongjam Joy from the Directorate of Agriculture complex, Sanjenthong here.

Speaking in this regard, Mongjam Joy informed that Pradhan Mantri Kishan Bima Yojana has been launched to ensure coverage of the crops planted by farmers when hit by natural calamities or infected with diseases.

Com pensation will be provided to the farmers under this scheme, he informed.

While stating that awareness about the scheme will be given to farmers during the week-long observance, he said that farmers should not get apprehensive of cultivating crops due to fear of natural calamities or plant diseases.

He urged the farmers to avail the benefits provided under the crop insurance scheme.

The flag-off function was also attended by Agriculture Department director Ningthoujam Gojendro and other officials of the department.
