NH 37 works banned over non-disbursal of compensation

Kuki Inpi Moltan Lhang general secretary and Longjang Khul village chief Haokai Sitlhou declared that all the works on National Highway (NH-37) have been banned with effect from Thursday as the government has failed to disburse the compensation to the people affected by the expansion of national highway from Keithelmanbi to Charoi Pandong.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, Haokai Sitlhou informed that 14 villages have been affected by the expansion of NH 37 from Keithelmanbi to Charoi Pandong.
Though the Kangpokpi DC assured in September last to release the compensation amount to the affected people before Christmas, the assurance has not been translated into action, he said and contended that the people do not trust the DC anymore.
While announcing that all the works related to expansion of the National Highway will be banned until compensation is paid, Haokai Sitlhou demanded, the government to release their entitled compensation without further delay.
