Assam Rifles on Wednesday organised a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of Jai Bahadur Rai of 5 Assam Rifles, who laid down his life for the country in Bumla.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, on October 30, 1956, JEM Bahadur made the ultimate sacrifice during an unprovoked Chinese assault in Bumla, Subansiri Division, NEFA (now Arunachal Pradesh).
His actions on that day epitomised raw courage, unwavering resolve, loyalty, and camaraderie.
Not only did he embody the highest qualities of a soldier, but he also laid down his life in dedicated service to the nation.
The legacy of JEM Jai Bahadur Rai is etched in golden letters in the history of Assam Rifles, inspiring not only its ranks but future generations across India, said the PRO, adding that the ceremony began with the laying of wreaths, followed by a motivational address recounting the valiant story of JEM Jai Bahadur Rai and other heroes in the service of the nation.
Over 200 personnel of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreaths and according a guard of honour, according to the PRO.
