AR celebrates Ningol Chakkouba, Pre-Kut festivals

Assam Rifles celebrated the traditional 'Ningol Chakkouba' festival at Komlakhong, Nambol, Irengbam, and Waroiching villages in Imphal West and Bishnupur districts on Tuesday.
Noting that the festival, which holds deep cultural and social significance in Manipur, commemorates the joyous reunion of married women with their parental families, PRO IGAR (S) said in a release that around 250 women joined the celebration at different locations with troops of AR.
In a gesture of solidarity, AR troops distributed gifts to the women, locally addressed as 'Iche', and sought their blessings, strengthening the bond between the security forces and local communities.
The event concluded with an exchange of goodwill, reflecting Assam Rifles' ongoing support for cultural heritage and unity among communities in Manipur.
The release also informed that AR commemorated a cultural landmark by hosting the 24th 'Channa Pre-Chavang Kut' at Molcham village, Chandel district on Monday.
This two-day festival brought together the people to honour and celebrate its rich heritage through an array of traditional performances and activities.
The event aimed to preserve culture while fostering a strong sense of community.
The festivities were marked by enchanting traditional dances, stirring folk songs, and inspirational speeches from prominent guests who highlighted the importance of cultural pride and unity.
Alongside the cultural showcases, spirited sports competitions added excitement to the event, featuring a men's football and volleyball championship, and women's volleyball championship, it said.
The 24th Channa Pre-Chavang Kut demonstrated Molcham village's commitment to cultural preser vation, celebrating traditions that continue to unite people across generations.
