Ukhrul town partially plunges into darkness

Ukhrul, August 28 2022: Parts of Ukhrul district headquarters and its environs continued to reel under total darkness for the second day after unknown technical glitches cropped up on Saturday evening.

An official of MSPDCL Ukhrul Division informed that power supply in larger parts of Ukhrul town and some villages in the adjoining areas remained cut off due to certain unknown technical issues that suddenly occurred on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, despite being a holiday, a team of technical staffers of MSPDCL, Ukhrul Division was pressed into service to ascertain the cause but could not succeed, said the official.

"We are hopeful that the cause would be established and the power supply be restored by tomorrow," the official added.

The affected parts included main town areas from Greenland/Tangrei to Hungpung village and also neighbouring villages like Shirui, Langdang, Choithar, Khangkhui and others.
