A week-long self-defence training programme on Thang-ta and Kungfu being organised under the aegis of Manchuria Kungfu International, High Command Manipur commenced from Sunday at United Friends and Library Club (UFLC) ground, Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function, MAN-1REDA chairman and Uripok MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani expressed confidence that the training programme will provide opportunities to youth of the state to take up sports as career and appealed to all concerned to practice hard and perform their best at the national level tournament which will be held in Chennai in May next.
Observing that there are chances of students taking their studies lightly while taking up sports, the MLA appealed to the parents to provide necessary support and guidance so that their wards could focus both in sports and studies.
According to Manchuria Kungfu International, High Command Manipur vice president Thangjam Shantikumar, who is also a Kungfu Master, children hardly get the time to play due to their daily rigours on academics and as such the camp is being specifically conducted during the school vacation period.

Presided over by UFLC president Dr Th Devendra-kumar, the inaugural function was also attended by All India Manchuria Kungfu Federation India president Mallai CE Sathya and RIMS deputy director (administration), Naorem Indrakumar as guests of honour.
