Barak bridge ready for inauguration

Imphal, December 21 2021:
Construction of the new Barak bridge along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiri) road has completed and could be inaugurated at any given time.
Construction of two important bridges along NH-37 road namely Makru and Barak bridges began in November, 2017 by Bharatiya Infra Project Limited (BIPL) under the aegis of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) .
Of the two bridges, Makru bridge was inaugurated by Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on July 13 this year.
Soon after inauguration of Makru bridge, BIPL utilised all its available machineries and manpower in the construction of Barak bridge on a war footing.
According to an official of BIPL, construction of Barak bridge, which is 154 metres long, and has 7.5 metres carriageway and 1.6 metre footpath at an estimated cost of Rs 78 crore has been completed and it could be inaugurated at any given time.
