Gaidinliu's Lungkao village yearns for development

Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL), Manipur has stated that freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu's birthplace Lungkao village is yearning for development as the village lag behind in every aspect including road connectivity, healthcare, power and water supply, schools and foodproduction.
In a release, KKL informed that an 11-member team of the Lup on Thursday visited Lungkao village, which is about 170 km from Imphal, in Tamenglong sub-division.
The visit was aimed to honour the freedom fighter and strengthen the bond between hill and valley people, it added.
KKL mentioned that the road connecting the birthplace of Rani Gaidinliu is a hilly road with no blacktopping and it is comparable to a jungle road.
On reaching the village, the Lup also distributed medicines to the villagers and presented stoles to descendants of Rani Gaidinliu as well as village elders.
Even though the freedom fighter has received many commendations from the government, her village remains still underdeveloped even after 75 years of India's independence.
The items used by her, her house have not been preserved properly.
Ihe villagers and her descendants are waiting for the government to take steps to preserve her memory and her endeavours for the coming generations, it said.
KKL urged the authorities concerned to ensure preserva tion of Rani Gaidinliu's house and memorial place, develop her village and provide suit able jobs to her descendants.
