Imphal, November 20 2021:
Raising objection to the National Eligibility Test (NET) examination for Manipuri conducted by UGC, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded that the exam in question be nullified and a new date fixed for conduct of NET Manipuri exam.
Speaking to media persons at its office here on Saturday, DESAM vice president Sital Oinam contended that the questions asked in the NET exam for Manipuri subject only came in Bengali script.
The responsibilities for not allowing the students who are still pursuing MA Manipuri to face NET Manipuri exam should be borne by Manipuri department, he added.
Pointing out that the government had changed 'Manipuri written in Bengali' in the Manipur Official Language Act to 'Manipuri written in Meetei Mayek' on March 4 this year, Sital said that MA third semester students learned Manipuri through Meetei Mayek.
It is unfortunate to witness that questions for NET Manipuri exam were all asked only in Bengali script when MA Manipuri third semester students came to give their the exam, he rued.
While maintaining that the exam should be nullified and answer papers should not be checked, Sital reiterated that a new date be scheduled for the exam.
