RPF/PLA pays homage to deceased cadre

Imphal, December 18 2024: The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has expressed deep condolences on the untimely demise of 'private' Lanchenba of Front's armed wing People's Liberation Army (PLA).

He reportedly passed away at a base camp on Thursday.

According to an RPF statement, Lanchenba was given highest honour and revolutionary salute during a condolence service held at its units, departments and stations.

The Front and the military wing PLA also shared the pain and grief of Lanchenba's family, friends and well-wishers.

The statement issued by RPF assistant publicity secretary Bankim said that the real name of private Lanchenba was Thokchom Melei, born to (late) Thokchom Mangolsing and Khomdonbi of Heirok Part-2 on December 2, 1977 .

Sensing the need to live independently after witnessing suppressive designs of India, Lanchenba joined the PLA on August 14, 2023, completed basic military training on September 20, 2023 and was allotted Army No 3378 of PLA.

After completion of training, Lanchenba was deputed to 505 force and shouldered the responsibility as revolutionary fighter, said the RPF statement adding that Lanchenba was a calm and sincere man and never hesitated to perform tasks assigned to him.
