Imphal, January 16 2025:
Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) provided refreshments to truck operators, who were unable to attend the Drivers' Day observance held on January 14 due to engagement in bringing in essentials for the public.
The aid distribution event, held on Thursday at Sekmai along the Imphal-Dimapur Road and at Keithelmanbi along the Imphal-Jiribam Road, was attended by MDA president Saikhom Babudhon, general secretary Ksh Sanjoy, advisor S Ganga, assistant secretary Kh Sangitcharan and other members.
According to Babudhon, Drivers' Day is observed annually on January 14 in honour of drivers who are unfazed by adversary elements and hostile terrain in ensuring continuous supply of essential items.
While many drivers participated in the event, several others were unable to' attend while serving on the highways.
As a gesture of respect, the association provided aid to these drivers on Thursday.
The event was made possible through contributions from the drivers themselves, he said.
Babudhon also encouraged all drivers to reach out to the association whenever they are in need.
