AR reaches out to Khengjoi denizens

Assam Rifles organised a series of people-centric events in Khengjoi Sub Division, Chandel district from October 7 to 11.These events included medical camps, lectures on women and child welfare, cleanliness & sanitation drive, tree plantation drive and skill development classes on automobile and electrical repairs, benefiting 550-600 people.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the medical camps provided essential healthcare services to underprivileged individuals.
Additionally, a lecture on women and child welfare, focusing on issues such as healthcare, nutrition, education and rights was held to raise awareness about the importance of empowering women and safeguarding the well -being of children, inspiring the local community to adopt progressive practices.
A cleanliness and sanitation drive aligned with the government's Swachh Bharat Mission was also conducted which not only promoted hygiene and sanitation but also involved the local population in maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
A tree plantation drive was another event organised to encourage environmental awareness and promoting afforestation to combat climate change and enhance the region's green cover, said the PRO in a statement, adding that the skill development classes in automobile and electrical repairs empowered local youth with vocational skills, enhancing their livelihood opportunities in line with the National Skill India mission.
These efforts underscore Assam Rifles' commitment to holistic development in Khengjoi Sub-Division, fostering community, well-being, and sustainability, added the PRO.
