Accidental firing hits car on highway

Thoubal, November 12 2024:
Bullets fired from the 3rd IRB sentry post, currently occupied by D/lll BSF, hit a car on the National Highway -102 and shattered its rear windshield besides hitting the fuel tank.
However, no one was injured in the incident.
Reports indicated that shot was fired accidentally during the cleaning of service weapon by a D/lll BSF trooper on duty.
The car belongs to one Sagolsem Rohit (38) of Wangjing Tekcham Leikai.
Apart from the rear windshield, the fuel tank was also hit by two bullets.
The incident occurred around 9:10 am when Rohit, along with his wife and two children, was on the way to a hospital.
Meanwhile, after a meeting of representatives of various clubs and organisations of Thoubal and Khangabok area on the matter, a memorandum was submitted to the Thoubal DC demanding details of the BSF trooper involved, termination of service of the said individual, removal of the BSF unit from the 3rd IRB post, and Rs 5 lakh compensation to the affected family.
