Human Rights Day observed across state

Assam Rifles observed Human Rights Day with a series of events across Bishnupur, Chandel and Imphal West districts.
The observance at Nambol and Komlakhong, had lecture programmes for troops, villagers and local communities, highlighting the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding as essential components for restoring peace and stability in Manipur.
Officers from Assam Rifles reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace while upholding human rights during these challenging times.
The sessions underscored the role of human rights as a cornerstone for rebuilding trust and fostering a secure and peaceful future for all communities, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
At New Samtal, Chandel district, an event focused on educating the local population about their rights and responsibilities as citizens was also held.
The awareness lecture featured discussions on the importance of human rights and the role of citizens in upholding these principles.
Assam Rifles personnel highlighted various initiatives undertaken to protect and promote human rights in conflict-prone areas.
The event was participated by 67 locals, including men, women and youth from the region, it added.
