Chaos at RIMS as technician thrashes patient party

Imphal, June 09 2022: Chaos erupted at RIMS on Thursday after a patient party was thrashed by X-ray technician of the hospital over a petty matter while the involved technician N Somorendro has been suspended.

The man thrashed by the technician has been identified as Abdula Phundreimayum, former president of Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation.

The incident happened on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday when Abdula bought one of his close relatives for treatment at the hospital.

As the patient's party entered the radiology department, an intense argument ensued between a technician and the patient's party over alleged unruly conduct and the technician reportedly punched Abdula on his face in the melee.

Condemning thrashing of Abdula, members of several organisations of Meitei Pangal community thronged RIMS hospital on Thursday, thereby creating a chaotic situation in the hospital.

However, police managed to control the situation and bring normalcy in the hospital.
