Imphal, January 07 2025: Churachandpur Meitei United Committee (CMUC) has urged the government to release the special package for internally displaced students this month before commencement of the new academic session.

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club on Tuesday, CMUC convenor Hemam Jogendro Meitei expressed gratitude for the government's initiative to provide special package for students affected by the conflict and further urged the government to release the package by January so as to address difficulties faced by the students in admission and purchasing essential educational matetials including books and uniform.

Pointing out that private schools have already issued the last date of admission for the new academic session, he appealed to private schools and colleges to extend the admission deadlines for IDP students.

He confided that there are 1483 conflict-affected students, out of approximately 15,000 IDPs from 15 villages and 1570 families displaced from Churachandpur.
