Imphal, September 04 2024: A day-long cancer awareness cum screening programme was conducted by Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute & Research Centre at Tangkhul Baptist Church here on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, Karkinos director and CEO Dr Prof GS Moirangthem cautioned that cancer cases are on the rise not only in the state but across the world and called for intense efforts to prevent and treat cancer in Northeast India, a region increasingly recognised as a cancer hotspot.

Karkinos Healthcare Resolution's Rajesh Seth, who was also present on the occasion, highlighted the importance of early cancer detection, as well as the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and Health IDs.

A cervical cancer screening camp was also conducted for HIV patients while ABHA Health IDs were distributed to 84 individuals.
