AR holds cancer awareness drives, health camps

Assam Rifles conducted multiple cancer awareness programmes, health camps, and interactive sessions across Manipur on Tuesday, to educate local communities on cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of routine medical check-ups.
In Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles organised a Cancer Awareness Lecture at HTC Conference Hall, attended by 30 villagers.
The Assam Rifles Medical Officer (ARMO) delivered an informative session on early symptoms, diagnosis, and equitable healthcare.
The event included an interactive Q&A session, fostering greater awareness and trust between Assam Rifles and the local population, PRO IGAR (S) said in a release.
It also informed that in Chandel district, awareness drives and free health check-ups were conducted at New Samtal, Sehlon, Hengkot, Phoilen, Tuitong, and Old Samtal villages.
These initiatives featured rallies, posters, leaflets, and interactive discussions, engaging villagers on cancer risks and preventive measures.
A health camp at Unopat village provided free medical screenings, benefiting 82 individuals, including children.
Similarly, in Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, and Thoubal districts, Assam Rifles conducted awareness lectures at Nambol, Keithelmanbi, and Mayaikeithel.
At Nambol, 45 residents participated in a session on risk factors, early symptoms, and preventive measures.
At Keithelmanbi, a special focus was placed on cervical cancer, highlighting the importance of vaccinations and screenings.
Glow Life Academy in Thoubal also hosted an awareness session attended by 30 students, 10 teachers, and 20 Assam Rifles personnel, emphasising early detection and healthy lifestyle choices, according to the PRO .
