Sanamahi religion proponents remembered

Manipuri forefathers, who faced punishment of the king and Brahmasabha during the movement for revival of Sanamahi religion, were remembered on Sunday at Luwangsangbam Makha Leikai Panthoibi Shanglen.
The remembrance function organised by South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) was attended by education minister S Rajen, SEACO president N Gobardhan, SEACO advisor Akham Langol, SEACO advisor Longjamba Sanathoi Piba, AKSIL president Kh Sobhapati and Luwang Leimarol Leisem Lup Luwangsangbam secretary Phijam Ongbi Sushila as presidium members.
It was the seventh such remembrance function organised by SEACO.
In his speech, S Rajen said that Manipur is a land having more than 2000 years of written history and people have their own religion and identity since time immemorial.
However, the present and future generation need to remember their forefathers who left and preserved distinct identity and culture of people of the land and education department has taken up steps to teach students about identity and culture by inserting relevant lessons in the syllabus.
The steps taken by SEACO to preserve and protect indigenous religion and impart the same to present and future generation indeed are a rightone, he applauded.
