Floral tributes paid departed CJM

Imphal, January 31 2022:
Manipur High Court Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar led the legal fraternity of the state in offering floral tributes to the photograph of Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate Yengkhom Somorjit Singh, who was killed in a road mishap on Sunday, in a condolence held at Cheirap Court Complex here on Monday.
The solemn function was attended by judges of district courts and members of Bar Association.
Deceased Yengkhom Somorjit graduated from DM College of Arts with a degree in political science as the topper of his batch.
He then completed LLB from Delhi University in 2000 and returned to Manipur and practised law for a brief period.
In 2012, he passed an exam conducted by MPSC and was appointed as SDC.
He then cleared the Manipur Judicial Services in 2013 and was appointed as Civil Judge Junior Division/Judicial Magistrate First Class Moreh, before being transferred to Manipur High Court as deputy registrar.
In 2017, he received a promotion transfer as Civil Judge Senior Division Imphal East and again transferred as CJM Imphal West in 2020 .
Somorjit also served as the general secretary of All Manipur Judicial Officers' Association, and it was during his tenure, that the Association's office at Cheirap Court was inaugurated.
