Imphal, December 27: Three MR personnel who were the security guards of the three ex-MLAs Songchinkhup, Khasim Ruivah and Sanayaima during the June 18 incident gave their statements before the ongoing C Upendra Commission of Inquiry at the Kuki Inn today.

Their testimonies were connected with the torching of the official residences of the three ex MLAs at Lamphel during the June 18 public uprising.

L Jayanta of 2nd MR who was the escort of Songchinkhup stated that the crowd was so massive that they (MR personnel) could not control it initially.

The crowd after smashing the main gate key of the quarter torched a Maruti Gypsy and the front room of the quarter besides breaking the window panes.

An hour ahead of the mob attack, Songchinkhup was escorted out by three personnel including the guard commander at a separate quarter of a doctor in the area, he added.
