Imphal, November 08:
Frustrated and exasperated by continued negligence of the government, the Ramva (Lambui) Katamnao Long, Ukhrul district, has threatened to resort to agitations such as road blockades if the authorities failed to redress the grievances of the area within next month.
The union members said they are exhausted of approaching the relevant authorities repeatedly for every grievance without any effect.
The grievances include lack of proper health care-centre, school building and other basic infrastructures.
Speaking to IFP, the union president Mashungam Shimray and information and publicity secretary Mahonshang Kasar said the public health centre at Ramva, since its establishment, has been reeling under want of adequate doctors and staff and health care facilities.
Besides, the patients have been facing hardships due to non-availability of an OPD section in the PHC.
Construction of the OPD building started in 1992 but is yet to complete.
The Ramva (Lambui) Govt Jr High School building is in the brink of collapse anytime as all the pillars and walls are decaying at the base and is becoming increasingly risky for conduct of classes.
On the other hand, one each post of science, mathematics and Hindi teacher has been lying vacant in the school for the last three years.
The school being the only educational institution in the village, the villagers have been repeatedly appealing to the government to upgrade the school to a high school.
But no attention has been paid so far to their appeals, they said.
Further, the union members also felt the urgent need to construct a public toilet shed at the Ramva check post.
